His extensive oeuvre is characterized by a great variety of artistic expressions and techniques and is estimated to number 50.000 works. Picasso was a co-founder of many art movements, such as classical modernism and cubism. One of his most famous paintings is the monumental work Guernica, which depicts the horrors of war. The motif of the dove on the poster that he designed for the World Peace Congress in Paris in 1949 became a symbol for peace worldwide.
